C-C district tax rate calculated

At the August 13 meeting, the Churchville-Chili Board of Education approved a new school tax rate of $24.05 per $1,000 of assessed property value for residents in the towns of Chili, Ogden and Sweden. Riga residents will pay $24.80 per $1,000 of assessed property value. This tax rate reflects an 8.5 percent tax increase for the residents of Chili, Ogden and Sweden. The tax rate for town of Riga residents will reflect a 9.0 percent increase. The proposed tax rate, which was projected in the 2002-2003 school budget, indicated residents would pay a 9.5 percent tax increase, according to district officials. The actual tax rate is less than the projected rate due to the district's true value real property tax assessment. The tax assessment in April estimated the district's true value at $943,208,309. The actual true value assessment completed in July is $962,894,980.
