Gates businessman receives top award in Lionism
John V. Sally of the John V. Sally Agency, Elmgrove Road, has taken an active part in the Lions Club and their goals in Lionism since become a member several years ago. He has worked as an officer, from vice president to president, to membership chairperson and serving on the board of directors for many years. Sally supported many projects such as the annual geranium sale, sausage roast, winter carnival, casino night and July 4th celebration.
Sally was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship in recognition of a commitment to humanitarian work. This fellowship is the foundation's highest honor and represents humanitarian qualities such as generosity, compassion and concern for the less fortunate. The fellowship was created in 1973 and is named for the founder of Lions Clubs International, Melvin Jones.
Sally served on the world Sight First campaign and organizes the club's golf tournament, their major fundraisers.
