Sweden commends local Boy Scout
Mark Wieczorek of Troop 111 was commended by Sweden Town Board members at the August 27 meeting for his work in assembling a playground at the Sweden Recreational Facility.
As part of Wieczorek's Eagle Scout project, he and other members of his troop designed and installed the playground facility. "Thank you for your help," Wieczorek told board members. "This was a great opportunity to build this playground for my Eagle project."
A Boy Scout since 1996, Wieczorek has worked his way up the ranks to attain the goal of Eagle Scout. As part of the badge, the Scout must complete a community service project and then complete two reviews with scout leaders. Wieczorek's reviews will take place soon, he said.
He was presented with a certificate of appreciation by board members who all had the opportunity to browse through the photo album Wieczorek had made of the project.
"This playground is definitely an asset to the community," Supervisor Nat O. (Buddy) Lester said. "It's a popular gathering spot for families and we appreciate your efforts."
Lester and the board members lauded Wieczorek for his leadership in seeing the playground construction through from idea development until the end.
