The following area residents have been named 2002 Dean's Scholars from SUNY at Brockport:

Rachel Betrus of Meadow Drive, Spencerport;

Stacy DeFilipps of South Manning Road, Holley;

Benjamin DeJonge of Burnt Mill Road, Churchville.

Each Dean's Scholar must be in the top 25 percent of their class, have a grade point average of 90 or better, and 1100 SAT or 24 ACT score. The scholarship includes partial board and is valued at $10,000 over four years.


Spencerport residents Matthew Bechtold of Nichols Street, Daniel Odrzywolski of Jorpark Circle, and Erin Ruscio of Bauers Cove have been named 2002 Eagle Scholars by SUNY at Brockport. Eagle scholars must be in the top 25 percent of their class, have a grade point average of 88 or better, and 1040 SAT or 23 ACT score. The scholarship is valued at $1,000.


Linda Fogarassy of Johnson Road, Churchville, has been named a 2002 Eagle Scholar by SUNY Brockport. Eagle Scholars must be in the top 25 percent of their class, have a grade point average of 88 or better, and 1040 SAT or 23 ACT score. The scholarship is valued at $1,000.


Carrie Lynn Easton of Chili Avenue Extension, Churchville, has been cited for academic achievement for the spring 2002 semester at the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi.

Easton, a veterinary science technology major, has qualified for the high honors list. To qualify, a student must have an academic average at least 3.75.


Rod Stettner, Board Chairman of Farm Credit of Western New York, announced recipients of $1,000 scholarships for the 2002-2003 academic year. The credit and financial services cooperative awarded the scholarships based on applicants' interest in agriculture, extracurricular activities and essay discussing the role government should play in agriculture.

One recipient, Natalie Walence of Churchville, is pursuing a degree in agricultural business management at Penn State University. A 2002 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School, she was active in swimming, dance, music and National Honor Society. Kate was a nine-year member in 4-H.


Erin Michelle Gray of Denishire Drive, Rochester, was named to the dean's list for fall, winter and spring quarters at Rochester Institute of Technology. A 2002 graduate of RIT's College of Science, Gray has been hired as a nuclear medicine technologist at INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia.

She is the daughter of Mike and Cindee Gray and a 1998 graduate of Churchville-Chili Senior High School.


Patrick Hastings of Nothnagle Realtors has been presented the #1 Sales Agent July 2002 award in the Chili-Ogden Office. His sales for the month were $1,047,385. This is his personal record high for monthly production.

In his 24-year career with Nothnagle, Hastings has received several awards including the Salesmaster Gold award from the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors every year since 1998, given for having closed 60 or more transactions in a 12 month period; and the Zenith Award presented by the Women's Council of Realtors. He was the recipient of Nothnagle's Top Agent 2001 in the Chili-Ogden office, an award he also earned in 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000. Hastings earned the Top 25 Club Award for 2001, presented to Nothnagle's 25 most successful realtors, out of a company of over 500 agents.

Hastings served as manager of one of Nothnagle's local offices for five years, served on the board of directors for the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors and is a notary public.

The lifelong Churchville resident has been licensed since 1978.
