Holley welcomes new director
of instruction/special programs

The Holley Central School District has hired Karri D. Schiavone as director of instruction/special programs. She will replace John Heise, who retired after 21 years with the district.

Schiavone is no stranger to Holley. She taught in the district at the intermediate level for four years, in addition to completing an administrative practicum there in 1999. Most recently, Schiavone was principal at Warren P. Towne Elementary School in Medina.

Her degrees include a bachelor of science in education from SUNY Buffalo, and a master of science in education and certificate of advanced study in educational administration from SUNY Brockport.

A graduate of the Holley School District, Schiavone said she took the director's position because it was an opportunity for her to do what she loves in the district she loves. "Being part of the administrative team is extremely exciting," she said. "This has always been a progressive district and it's great to be able to hop on that train and move it along."

Schiavone's responsibilities as director of instruction include overseeing Academic Intervention Services and pre K-12 curriculum, in conjunction with the building principals. Much of her time will be spent on coordinating pupil services for special education. She also coordinates volunteers throughout the district and assists the superintendent in general administrative duties.

Schiavone lives in Holley with her husband, Daniel, who is a dentist and Holley's mayor. They have two daughters, Kaci, age 11, and Sydni, age 8, both Holley students.

"I'm excited about being back," said Schiavone. "I love my job in Medina, so this was a difficult choice. But now that I'm here, it feels like coming home again."
