Record first-day enrollment at GCC
Genesee Community College opened the 2002-2003 academic year with a record first-day enrollment: 3,456 students had enrolled for classes as of August 24, up 8.2 percent from the 3,194 students enrolled a year ago.
Full-time enrollment totaled 2,410, up 10.5 percent from the 2,181 students enrolled on the first day of classes a year ago. Part-time enrollment totaled 1,046, up 3.3 percent from the 1,013 students enrolled a year ago.
Next month, the college will enroll additional students for its Advanced Studies Program offered in area high schools. The college will be near - or exceed - 5,000 enrollments, another new record, President Stuart Steiner predicted.
The student body this year includes students from more than twenty nations.
