Apple Pie entries sought for contest

The Seventh Apple Pie Contest will be held Saturday morning, October 5, during Hilton Apple Fest and is open to all New York state residents. The pies must be made with New York state apples. Pies will be judged on appearance, taste, and texture. There will be a youth category for ages 16 years and younger and an adult category for ages 17 and older. The youth category will be judged by youth, the adult category will be judged by adults. First place for youth is $25 and second place will be $10. The adult category for first place will receive $100, second place will receive $50, and third place will receive $25.

Anyone wishing to receive an application with more information can send their name and address to Hilton Apple Pie Contest, P.O. Box 1, Hilton, NY 14468 or go to www.hiltonapplefest.org and print, complete and mail the entry form. There are also entry forms outside the Hilton Parma Recreation Office at the Hilton Community Center. A $2 non-refundable fee must be included with each completed application. Deadline for the applications will be Wednesday, October 2.
