Harvest Ball helps fund wishes
The Second Annual Make-A-Wish Harvest Ball hopes to raise nearly $90,000 to grant the special wishes of children in Western New York who have life-threatening illnesses. The black-tie event, scheduled for Saturday, November 16, will be held at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
New 8 Now Anchor Kevin Doran will be honored for his dedication to covering the stories of Wish Kids and spreading awareness of the organization's mission. B. Thomas Golisano will be recognized for his contribution to the Golisano Children's Hospital as will Strong social worker Eric Iglewski for his support in referring every eligible child he meets.
Attendees can dance to the music of Johnny Matt's Big Band, bid on auction prizes, enjoy cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, dinner, and dessert. Wish Child Paul (age 19) will speak of his experience of a wish come true to the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. Wish Child Markie (age 5), who wished to be a Buffalo Bill, will also be in attendance.
The Rochester community can support the event by attending, sponsoring, or offering an auction item to the event. Individual tickets are available for $100 each and there are a variety of sponsorship opportunities available.
All funds raised will be used to grant wishes to children living in Western New York who dream of going to Disney World, meeting a favorite celebrity, going on a shopping spree or wherever their imaginations take them.
