Spencerport Soccer Club donates shelters
The Spencerport Soccer Club has donated two team shelters, valued at a total of $10,000, to the Spencerport School District for use during home varsity soccer games at the district's soccer stadium. The covered shelters replace the original wooden benches that were damaged beyond repair in a wind storm last spring.
"This is an unexpected and phenomenal donation," says John Pelin, Spencerport's athletic director. "It underscores the relationship between the soccer club, the school district and our soccer teams."
Shane Graham, the club's president, agrees, saying that the district and the club have a good working relationship. The club continually raises money to support Spencerport soccer. The largest fundraiser is the club's annual summer soccer tournament, held the last weekend in June each year. Graham credits the club members who made this donation possible: Pat Tata, vice president; Terry Gurnett, coaching director; Maria DiSano, secretary; Rick Moyer, tournament director; Vicki Martuscello, treasurer; Dave Bartock, web page; Bill Parkhurst, public relations; Stuart McFarlane, scheduling; Chuck Tucker, equipment; Ann Moscicki, head manager; and Patty Bosch, credentials.
