Canal Corporation announces sweepstakes winners
The New York State Canal Corporation announced the prize winners of the five-week "Unlock the Adventure" radio campaign designed to inform the public about the Canal System and to promote tourism within New York state.
The "Unlock the Adventure Sweepstakes," covering Albany, Syracuse and Rochester markets, was the first major in-state radio marketing communications effort undertaken by the New York State Canal Corporation in the history of the 177-year-old Canal System.
One goal of the campaign was to build awareness of the Canal System as a world-class tourism destination right in listeners' backyards. The campaign also sought to encourage New York residents to experience the Canal System by highlighting Canal activities that New Yorkers may not already know about.
Prizes included a weeklong cruise donated by Erie Canal Cruise Lines; a three-day cruise donated by Mid-Lakes Navigation; and an overnight cruise donated by Champlain Canal Tours. The winners were drawn by random selection and audited by KPMG.
The winner of the weeklong cruise was Steve Caraccilo from Syracuse; Jane Ikuta from Manlius won the three-day cruise; and Ellen Taylor from Bergen won the overnight cruise.
