Orleans United Way/Red Cross
campaign annual appeal under way
Eastern Orleans' annual United Way/Red Cross campaign began September 10. Volunteers announced a goal of $155,000 to help meet the community's critical needs. The dollars raised through the annual appeal directly benefit the services and programs offered by 11 local health and human service organizations in Orleans County. Individuals and families throughout Orleans County receive Red Cross assistance through disaster relief, counseling, blood services, and health and safety training programs.
"We realize that time are tough," said campaign co-chair Susan Schuler, vice president and manager, HSBC Bank. "But it's during tough times that people need help the most."
Co-chairs Fran and Ray Lissow, owners of Lissow Development, added, "A gift to United Way is a gift than supports our community. And this year, that support is so important."
Serving on the campaign cabinet under Schuler and the Lissows are: Kathy Ahlburg, Cheryl Babcock, Angie Blackley, Carri Blake, Don Colquhoun, Rebecca Dillenbeck, Bonnie Englant, Ed Fancher, Darlene Ginty, Louise Hayford, Debbie Heuer, Karl Heuer, Wendy Kelly, Judy Koehler, Joe Martillotta, Karen Mitchell, Dorothy Ross, Patricia Shelp, Kellie Spychalski and Judy Thompson.
The campaign will run until mid-November. For more information on making a contribution or information concerning volunteer opportunities, call United Way at 589-6455.
