Chili Senior Center programs
The following programs are offered by the Chili Senior Center, 3235 Chili Avenue. For information or to register for a program, stop by the center or call 889-6185.
Yoga - Thursdays, September 19 - October 31 (no class 10/10) from 2 to 3:15 p.m. Yoga is a gentle, non-competitive approach to stretching and relaxation using your breath to ease into basic yoga poses suitable for your body. Wear loose clothing and bring a beach towel, mat or small blanket. The cost is $20.
Volunteer Drivers Needed - to transport senior citizens to and from the Senior Center on Monday and Thursdays. Morning and afternoon shifts are available. The center has a handicapped accessible lift van. Driver assistants are also needed to help individuals into the van.
Craft Sale - The Chili Senior Center will be holding its annual Fall Craft Sale on Saturday, November 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Any crafter interested in purchasing a table for $25 should call 889-6185 for an application.
Broadway Dreamers - an entertaining evening with a buffet dinner (catered by Forest Hills) followed by a Broadway revue show on Friday, October 11. The event will be held at the Chili Senior Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will be at 7 p.m. The show begins at 8 p.m. The cost is $20.00 per person.
Mendon Ponds Park - a guided tour of Mendon Ponds Park, Tuesday, September 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The tour will explore the local and natural history of Mendon Ponds Park including the spectacular glacial features and historic cobblestone house. Discussion about native plants and seasonal birds will also be included. The tour is guided by Rhoades Geologic Tours. Walking required. The cost is $10 per person and includes a box lunch and a stop at Farm Market en route home.
Treasures Roadshow - Ed Cornwell, local antiques expert, will be at the Chili Senior Center on Thursday, October 10 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. to examine treasures and offer an appraisal. Senior citizens (55+) who want to bring an item for review, must sign up in advance and pay $5 (bring money that day). Only 25 items will be examined. One item per person. Spectators are welcome.
Fun Walk - a county-wide Fun Walk on Friday, October 4 from 10:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. The Fun Walk is a short walk down University Avenue designed especially for senior citizens and it begins and ends at Valley Manor. The walk includes lunch, entertainment and transportation. The cost is $4.
