Spencerport recruits community member for redistricting task force
Community forum scheduled
The Spencerport Superintendent of Schools has appointed Dan Milgate, principal of the new elementary school, as co-chair of the Task Force on Elementary School Attendance Boundaries. The task force will, with community input, develop options for school boundary changes when the new elementary school opens September 2003.
The task force will consist of two parents from each of the existing elementary schools; one teacher from each elementary school; each elementary school principal; and three at-large community members. Transportation Director Michael Proukou, and Pat Chapman from the census and attendance office, and a representative from Transportation Advisory Services will serve as advisory members.
Ideally, the three at-large task force members would be long-time community residents who do not now, nor will within the next few years, have students in the elementary schools. Those interested in serving on the task force should also have an active interest in the success of the school district. The task force will meet three times, with the schedule being Tuesday, October 29; Monday, November 18; and Wednesday, December 4.
Residents wishing to be considered for membership on the task force can submit a letter of interest by Thursday, October 10 to: Daniel Milgate, Bernabi Elementary School, 69 Lyell Avenue, Spencerport, NY 14559.
Any residents interested in getting more information about the boundary change process can attend a community forum on Tuesday, October 8 at 7 p.m. in the board room at the administration building, 71 Lyell Avenue. For information, or to submit feedback on the boundary change, contact Milgate at 349-5403 or via email, dmilgate@spencerportschools.org.
