Clarkson Historical Society
makes October membership month
October is membership month for the five-year-old Clarkson Historical Society. With 30 members at present, the society is interested in increasing its membership. Membership meetings are held every first Wednesday of the month at 7:15 p.m. at the Justice Court House in Hafner Park in Clarkson.
People of all ages are welcome, and the society would particularly like to encourage younger people to attend, or perhaps get on their list of volunteers for various fund raising evenings.
The Society was formed from a group of concerned Clarkson residents who wanted to help save the old Clarkson Schoolhouse, which is adjacent to the Clarkson Community Church on Ridge Road. The group is actively looking for ways to re-hab the building, and will probably need to raise a significant amount of money in the future to do so. Several fund raisers are being planned.
For information on the Society, call any of the officers: President Mary Edwards, 637-5810; Vice President Helen Massar, 964-8408; Treasurer Bonnie Howlett, 964-2551; or Secretary Sheryl DeJonge, 395-1674.
