BOCES educator receives Teacher of the Year award
Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Gifted and Talented Education Coordinator Charmy Perry will receive the 2002 AGATE (Advocacy for Gifted and Talented Education) Alexinia L. Baldwin Teacher of the Year Award at the AGATE statewide conference October 10 at the Chatauqua Institution, near Jamestown. The AGATE award honors a New York state teacher who has made outstanding contributions to gifted education.
Perry, a Spencerport resident, has been the BOCES 2 Gifted & Talented coordinator for 18 years. Perry is responsible for overseeing all aspects of enrichment programming for K-12 students in BOCES nine component districts. She also oversees professional development for G&T teachers and recruits teaching consultants (visiting artists, scientists and other professionals). Prior to joining BOCES, Perry taught English at the middle school level. Perry also served on the Churchville-Chili Central School District Board of Education for 15 years.
The nine component school districts served by BOCES 2 are Brockport, Churchville-Chili, Gates Chili, Greece, Hilton, Holley, Kendall, Spencerport and Wheatland-Chili.
