Bees bury Knights
Tricia Hammerl and Alyssa D'Errico combined for 23 kills as Byron-Bergen defeated LeRoy 25-19, 15-25, 26-24, 25-23 September 19 in girl's volleyball.
The Bees led by as many as eight points in the first game win. An 8-4 rally midway through the second game could not salvage the victory, but they fought back in taking the final two points of the third game after being tied 24-24. The fourth and deciding game featured Byron-Bergen jumping out to a 4-0 and 10-6 leads before LeRoy came back to force 9 ties in the game. Tied at 22-22, a D'Errico kill gave the Bees a two-point lead and the eventual win.
"They played a slow, deliberate game and we slowed down right with them," said Bees Head Coach Marion Gerhardy. "We played to their pace when we prefer a more aggressive approach."
Hammerl had nine digs to go with her 13 kills and D'Errico added eight digs to her 10 kills. Ashley Kelly and Jennifer Wolfanger each had 13 assists in the match, which saw Byron-Bergen improve their record to 5-2 this season.
