official Black Belt in Japanese Sword Bergen's David Nagel, 23, received his official Black Belt promotion certificate in laido, Japanese sword, on September 21. Nagel demonstrated proficiency in sword katas, techniques, teaching and history. He was promoted by Shihan John Drouin of Florida. Nagel trains in martial arts including sword at the Gillam Grant Community Center in Bergen under Shihan Cyndy Jones. He started in Isshin Ryu Karate at eight and is now a second degree black belt. In addition, Nagel also studies Kali, a Filipino weapons art, Thai Boxing, and Jun Fan/Jeet Kune do. |
