with working with rural elderly

Coordinated Care, Community Concern, The NYS Division of Veteran's Affairs and Southtown's Rural Preservation Corporation are proud to present the 4th Annual Working with Rural Elderly Conference for human service agencies providing services to the elderly in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Genesee, Erie, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties.

The conference will take place on Thursday, October 17 at Michael's Banquet Center, S4885 Southwestern Boulevard, Hamburg from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. All human service agencies are welcome to attend but seating is limited; early registration is urged.

This event includes a Keynote address by Dr. Charles Schmidtke, director of gerontology at Canisius College. He will speak on "Rural Elderly As a Culture Itself." Other presentations include Bill Armbruster, associate state director of AARP-New York, "Rural Initiatives;" Bruce Reinoso, partner, Magavern and Grimm, LLP, "Legal Issues for the Elderly & Caregivers;" Dr. Ron Eskew, geropsychologist, Hilbert College, "Mental Health Issues Among the Elderly;" and Patrick Pruski and Judy Barton from the Erie County Department of Health, "AIDS: A New Health Issue For Rural Elderly." NYS Senator George Maziarz will be presenting a state update.
