Golf tournament funds help breast cancer group
In August, Arrowhead Golf Club of Spencerport held its 18th tournament to raise money for breast cancer. From that tournament they raised $3,900 and donated it to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester. At the end of September, a raffle was held for a pair of tickets to the 2003 LPGA at Oak Hill Country Club. They raised an additional $750 from raffle and the two winning tickets went to Sue Gaffney.
The fundraising for breast cancer began 18 years ago when a member of Arrowhead died of the disease. Since then, according to Mike Villante, general manager, the club has raised over $30,000, which always goes to a breast cancer organization that keeps the money in the Rochester area.
The tournaments traditionally consist of golf, prizes and a dinner.
