Brockport falls to HF-L
The Brockport Blue Devils girls soccer team had eight chances in the first half alone, but could not capitalize in a 3-0 loss to Class C defending sectional champion Honeoye Falls-Lima September 30.
In just the fourth minute of play, Katie Sue Jones took a direct kick from just above the box and chipped it over the wall of defenders, but the goalkeeper was there for the save. Three minutes later, Jones took a pass from Tara Pouthavongsa but shot wide.
Brockports Ana Dupre had two more chances on long shots toward the net, but both were stopped. HF-L then converted at the 23:30 mark to take a 1-0 lead.
Dupre had another opportunity saved by the goalkeeper in the 26th minute, Ashley Holler took a long, arching shot that just missed the outside post in the 44th minute and Barbie Helf shot wide just one minute later to close the half.
In the 69th minute, HF-L opened the game up with two goals just 40 seconds apart. "The only thing that irritated me was our letdown," said head coach Bill McKee. "We had three hard matches last week and we didnt come back hard. Plus we couldnt cash in on two perfectly played corner kicks in the second half."
The Blue Devils fell to 4-6 with the loss while Honeoye Falls-Lima raised their record to 9-1.
