Day of the Dead program at the Community Free Library
The Community Free Library will present a program featuring the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) on Wednesday, October 23 at 6:30 p.m. Denis Defibaugh will present the slide lecture "Family Ties That Do Not Die," depicting the Day of the Dead in Oaxaca, Mexico. The program will also feature a paper-cutting activity for the children.
The "Day of the Dead" is a celebration of All Saints and All Souls days as practiced in Mexico and many Latin American and Caribbean countries. Whole communities gather to remember loved ones with special foods, an array of arts and crafts, music, dances, and stories.
