ALBION

•DeForest, Edna M., of Richfield Springs, 74, formerly of Adams Basin, Thursday, September 26, 2002 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, New York.

She was born on November 24, 1927, in Herkimer, daughter of the late Harold and Delia Corrow Stauring. Edna was raised in Richfield Springs and graduated from Richfield Springs High School.

On November 23, 1944, she married Stanley DeForest in Richfield Springs, a blessed union of 57 years until his passing in 1988. She and her husband had resided in Spencerport until returning to Richfield Springs in 1988.

She was a member and past president of the Hugick, Purcell, Shepardson American Legion Post #616 Ladies Auxiliary, Richfield Springs, the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #2338 and a member and past Master of the Ogden Grange #111. She was a member of the Friends of the Ogden Farmers' Library in Ogden.

Surviving are a son, John C. and his wife, Margaret DeForest of Brockport; two brothers and their wives, Donald and Lucy Stauring of Arkport, Morris and Philomena Stauring of Frankfort; two sisters, Flora and her husband James Wells of Richfield Springs, Sister Madeline Stauring of Buffalo; one grandson, Stanley and his wife, Linda DeForest, of Rochester; a great grandson, Nathaniel DeForest of Rochester; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, Stanley, a son, Craig DeForest, preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs, September 30. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Richfield Springs. Memorial donations can be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph's of Buffalo Family Support Center, 10324 Main Street, Clarence, NY 14031 or the Richfield Springs Emergency Rescue Squad.


•Kaseman, Robert C., October 6, 2002. Predeceased by his wife, Lucille. Survived by family, Kris, Larry, Karon, Joe Coleman; Dan, John, Paul, Julie Kaseman; Mark, Carol, Michael Kaseman; Clare Diane Kaseman. WWII veteran, 19th Combat Engineer II Corp. European Theatre Ribbon (which received commendation from Generals George Patton and Omar Bradley), Four Battle Stars: African Invasion, Battle of Kasserine Pass, Sicily Invasion, Monte Cassino. Purple Heart for wounds received probing for mines at Rapido River, Italy. Retired Rochester Police Sergeant. Member of St. Boniface Men's Club, Police Benevolent & Locust Club, American Legion Police Post #1182, DAV Monroe Powers.

Funeral Mass was celebrated October 10 at St. Boniface Church. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations can be made to Sisters of St. Joseph, 4095 East Avenue, Rochester, NY 14618.


•Schlageter, Dorinne A. (Kates), On October 3, 2002 at age 102. She is predeceased by her husband, Ferdinand, daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Betty), son, John, daughter, Jane Lynch, grandson, Robert Coppaway. She is survived by her sons, Vincent Schlageter, Donald (Ginny) Schlageter; daughters, Dorrine Farrell and Rita Willison; daughter-in-law, Joanne Schlageter; sister, Charlotte Boeheme; 33 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was said October 8 at St. Vincent DePaul Church, Churchville. Interment St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery. Friends may have Masses offered for the repose of her soul.


BROCKPORT

•Knapp, Willis, On Monday, October 7, 2002. He is survived by his sons, Frederick (Carol) and Norman (Mary Ann); four grandchildren, Eric (Christina), Heather (Brian) Gloudemans, Kory (Scott) Hunsinger and Kyle; several nieces and nephews. Willis was a former Building Inspector Town of Sweden, a former member of the Village of Brockport Board of Trustees, a member of Brockport Fire Department Capen Hose Company 4, Firemen's Exempt Association, Knights of Rest and the St. Luke's Episcopal Church.

A Memorial Service was held October 10 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Brockport. Contributions can be made to Sweden Senior Citizen's Center, Brockport Exempt Benevolent Association or the St. Luke's Episcopal Church.


•McGuinn, Ruth L., Thursday, October 5, 2002. She is survived by her grandsons, Charles Young Jr. and Roger (Joanna) Young both of Washington; five grandchildren; one brother, John Wilson, Florida; several nieces and nephews, including Jerry and Diane Harris, Brockport.

A Graveside Service was held October 12 at the Mt. Albion Cemetery, Albion. Contributions can be made to American Heart, American Cancer or the Living Circle Group at Concordia Lutheran Church of Brockport.


CHURCHVILLE

•O'Marra, David Matthew, on September 26, 2002 in Sandy, Utah. Born to loving parents, Thomas O'Marra and Debbie and Jim White November 18, 1981 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. He grew up in Churchville, moving to Washington in 1995. In 1996, David moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, with his family.

He is survived by his parents, Thomas O'Marra, Debbie and James White; his brothers, Danny O'Marra, and Robert Walters; his sisters, Kelly O'Marra, Kristy Walters, Sally O'Marra, and Tonya Chouinard; nephews and nieces, Colin Gaver, Brenna Gaver, and Dylan Walters; his grandparents, Theresa O'Marra, Herb and Jean Bond and Margaret and James White. Preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard O'Marra.

A Memorial Service was held October 1 at the Mt. Olympus Presbyterian Church, Salt Lake City.


HAMLIN

•Buckner, Richard G., October 2, 2002 at age 82. Predeceased by grandson, Chris Maxwell. Survived by his wife, Virginia; children, Richard Buckner, Todd (Sue) Buckner, Beth Buckner, Laurie (Terry Kenyon) Snyder; grandchildren, Steven Maxwell, Ricky Buckner, Jessica Buckner, Melanie Buckner; several nieces and nephews. He was a WWII Veteran and a life-time member of the Walker Fire Department.

Graveside Service was held at the convenience of the family. Contributions can be made to the Walker Fire Department or the American Heart Association in his memory.


HILTON

•Kolb, Stella F., October 5, 2002 at age 82. Predeceased by husband, Robert. Stella is survived by her children, Jeanne Hasman, Pat (Doug) Olney, Mary Jo (Gary) Torrey; sister, Michaella Tennity of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Jessica Hasman, Erica Hasman, David Olney, Christine Olney, Emily LaDuque; great-grandchildren, Hobie Strassner, Hailey Strassner; several nieces and nephews.

SPENCERPORT

•Charles, Gertrude L., Sunday, October 6, 2002 at the age of 84. She is survived by her daughters, Suzanne (Robert) Kincaid and Linda Charles; her grandchildren, Kellie (Kevin) Adami and Gregory (Christine) Kincaid; four great grandchildren, Conner Adami, Gregory, Jeffrey and Michael Kincaid; two brothers, Richard and Robert (Cleo) Eisenberg; nieces and nephews. She was a former Spencerport Village Clerk.

A Memorial Service was held October 12 at Walker Brothers Company Funeral Home Inc., Spencerport. Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in her memory.


•Cooper, Lloyd W. "Bill," Thursday, October 3, 2002 at age 81. He was predeceased in 1995 by his wife, Helen and in 1994 by his daughter Bonnie Cooper Marinilli, his sister Elizabeth and brother Charles. He is survived by his daughter Billie Weaver of Rochester; his son Terrance Cooper of Spencerport; stepchildren Joan (Howard) Spike of Canaseraga, Carol (Richard) Ziegler of Spencerport, Gary (Mary Ann) VanNeel and Ronald (JoAnn) VanNeel, both of Florida; sisters, Freda Jefferies of Arizona and Leslie Vaneski of California; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; a great great grandson; nieces and nephews. He retired in 1984 from Bausch & Lomb following 41 years of service; was an Army veteran of WWII and was a member of Canaseraga American Legion Faucett Post #1582.

•Schepler, Marion E., Saturday, October 5, 2002 at age 91. She was predeceased March 9, 1996 by her husband of 58 years, Walter J. Schepler. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Esther Klafehn; her nephew Glenn F. (Arline) Lawson; several great nieces and great nephews; many special friends and neighbors.
