Ghost walk guaranteed to haunt
Rochester's gory and all true past is coming back to haunt the city during the Landmark Society's annual Ghost Walk. For two weekends beginning Friday, October 18, lantern-bearing guides will lead brave audiences under the cloak of night to hear Rochester's spine-chilling history told by costumed actors.
Meet the unusual Mr. Colchester, brought to trial for refusing to purchase a juggling license. Mr. Colchester insists he is not a juggler. He is a spiritualist medium. It is the spirits who speak and manipulate objects through him, he argues. Will the jury follow the law of the land or will they accept the "spirit of the law?"
Hear for the first time the inside scoop on one of Rochester's most famous victims. Despite multiple eyewitnesses, the cause of the tragedy has been disputed for more than a century. Discover who was responsible and hear straight from "the horse's mouth" what it was like to find the body of the unfortunate deceased.
The ghosts will walk for two weekends: Friday and Saturday, October 18 and 19 and Friday and Saturday, October 25 and 26. Guided tours start at 7 p.m. at the Third Presbyterian Church on the corner of East Avenue and Meigs Street. The last tour leaves the church at 9 p.m.
Advance tickets are $7 for Landmark Society members, $8 for nonmembers. At the door all tickets are $10. To order tickets in advance or make group reservations call the Landmark Society at 546-7029.
