Hilton East resident turns 100

On Thursday, October 10, Birdie Castagna celebrated her 100th birthday in her room at Hilton East Assisted Living Community.

Joined by many family members, Birdie enjoyed her 100th year of "good living." Her father died when she was young and she remembered how hard she and her mother had to work to survive through hard economic times. She worked as a tailor to support the family when her mom worked at Bausch and Lomb. Birdie was a hard worker and enjoyed life, but according to the new centurion, four words can capture the last 100 years - "a good clean life." And for that reason on Birdie's special day, she truly had something special to celebrate.
