Hill, Smith pace Blue Devil swimmers

Ariana Hill and Natalie Smith each had two first place finishes as Brockport defeated Hilton 95-72 in girl’s swimming October 15.

Hill won the 50-meter freestyle in 26.76 and the 100-meter freestyle in 1:00.2 while Smith won the 200-meter freestyle in 2:08.45 and the 500-meter freestyle in 5:43.30. Other winners for the Blue Devils included Merideth Lewis in the 200-meter Individual Medley in 2:33.4, Sabrina Hill in the diving competition, Tessa Snow the 100-meter butterfly in 1:09.9 and Rachel Noel in the 100-meter backstroke in 1:11.4.

Andrea Appelton, who placed second in the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter freestyle, led Hilton. She was also part of second place relay teams in the 200-meter medley with Maj Jessepen, Jen Whigam and Mindy Matcla and 200-meter freestyle with Whigam, Jessepen and Jacki Meyer. Jessepen placed second in the 500-meter freestyle and Meyer was second in the 100-meter backstroke.
