Hilton Apple Fest has many winners
Apple Pie Contest
The Hilton Apple Fest Apple Pie Contest first place prize of $100 for the adult division was won by Kim Vitelli of Hamlin. Kim used Red Delicious and Cortlands to make the prize winning pie. Second place prize of $50 went to a Hilton resident, Melissa Morgante, who used 20 Ounce apples for her pie. The third place prize of $25 was won by Sherry Farrell of Hilton, who also used 20 Ounce apples.
The first place prize of $25 for the youth division was won by Ashley Nichols of Hilton, using Cortland and Empire apples for her prize winning pie. Second place prize of $10 went to a Hamlin resident, Alyssa DeMarco, who used Cortland and 20 Ounce apples for her pie.
The crust and filling of each pie were judged for appearance, texture, and taste. Judging the Apple Pie Contest for adult division were: Harriet Zunno, a lawyer in the Village of Hilton; Deb Godlove, a Home Economics teacher at the Hilton High School; Paul Marvin, a life-long resident of the Hilton area; and Jim Belair, a librarian at Rush-Henrietta School District and has been involved in the Hilton Apple Fest for many years. For the youth division, the judges were Rachel Quetschenbach and Jared Kaminski. They are both students at QUEST Elementary School.
Apple of My Eye Photo Contest
The Hilton Apple Fest Photo Contest Committee received approximately 300 entries this year. The theme this year was "Put Your Best Face Forward" and they had an open division (adult) and a children's division.
The Best of Show award of $100 went to Duane Gutowski. In the open division, the winners were: first place, $50, Steve Grimm; second place, $35, Heather Murphy; and third place, $25, Sarah Spindler. Honorable Mentions of $10 went to David Beadling, Gary Hoover, Melissa McCall, Denise Ambrose and Kristin Littlejohn.
In the children's division the winners were: first place, $25, Haley Markham; second place, $15, Lydia Frechette; and third place, $10, Evan Bean. Honorable mentions, $5, went to James Ensman, Corey McEvoy and Rikki Jensen.
Sponsors choice' winners were Carolyn Rickman, Judy Kinz, Brian Franklin and Ashlee Woodruff.
