Brockport's currency and banking in the
Victorian Era topic of historical group's meeting
On Thursday, November 14, Gerard Muhl will talk about currency and banking in the Victorian Era and how it affected commerce in Brockport and western New York. The talk, illustrated by slides and artifacts, will take place at the Morgan Manning House located at 151 Main Street in Brockport. It is scheduled from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
The Western Monroe Historical Society, sponsor of the event, welcomes members and the public. Everyone is invited to bring period coins or other related artifacts for discussion. Admission is free.
Gerard Muhl is a history teacher retired from the Greece School System. He is a former writer for the Rochester Museum and Science Center. He has written numerous articles on coins and their historical significance. He is a member and past president of the Rochester Numismatic Association.
