Salvation Army kicks off Bell Ringer search

The Salvation Army in Monroe County is kicking off its annual Bell Ringer volunteer search for the Red Kettle Campaign.

"We need businesses, families, individuals, clubs, schools, churches, unions and associations - including sororities, fraternities, business and civic organizations. They are our angels. They can make miracles happen this holiday season if they call and make a short commitment of time to ring bells at Red Kettle sites in and around our local communities," announced Rick Damore, field representative for The Salvation Army's Monroe County Service Unit Areas. Groups may want to adopt-a-kettle for an extended period of time or for several times during the season, which begins in November and ends on December 24.

During the holiday season, The Salvation Army traditionally joins forces with service clubs, churches, schools and individuals in the community. "We become one family. All barriers are torn down and good cheer fills the air. We are a community joined with one focus - to bring relief to those in need - the children, the elderly and families in crisis," said Damore.

The Brockport, Churchville, Fairport, Hilton, Honeoye Falls, Scottsville Units in Monroe County provide services through Volunteer Committees in areas where The Salvation Army does not have a facility. Through these units, the following communities and their surrounding areas also receive services: Adams Basin, Clarkson, Spencerport, Clifton, North Chili, East Rochester, Hamlin, Walker, Industry, West Rush, Mendon, Ionia, Mumford. Communities, which are located near Salvation Army facilities, receive services through the local facility.
