Melissa A. Hix, APR, was promoted to senior program manager, Public Relations Group at Liggett-Stashower, Inc. Hix is the daughter of Frederick and Rosanne Holbrook, of Spencerport, and a 1992 graduate of Spencerport High School.

Hix joined Liggett-Stashower in May 1998. With a focus on business-to-business public relations, Hix has expanded her areas of expertise to include financial, legal and not-for-profit clients. She became an accredited member of the public relations profession (APR) in July 2002.

A resident of Westlake, Ohio, Hix received a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Dayton in 1995. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the Associate Board of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland.


William (J.R.) Norton, son of Denise Norton and grandson of Beverly and Bill Ireland of Kendall, graduated from the Art Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with a degree in graphic design. The Kendall Central School graduate has accepted a position with the Greater Niagara Newspapers at the North Tonawanda office.


Adams Basin resident Nora Steuber-Tamblin wrote a true and personal story that was accepted for publication in Chicken Soup for the Sister's Soul, scheduled for release November 1, 2002. Nora's contribution "My Family Was Separated" was selected from thousands of other potential entries to be included in the series.

Her story recounts how the bond between sisters can last even through forty years of separation. Her contribution, along with the ones made by her fellow contributors, shares the message of love, inspiration and hope.


Matthew B. Schwind has graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) National Advanced Leadership Camp at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Washington.

Schwind is the son of Daniel R. and Cheryl J. Schwind of Saveria Drive, Hilton. He is a 1999 graduate of Hilton High School.


Air Force Airman 1st Class Mark D. Chambers has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

He is the son of David Chambers of East Manitou Road, Hilton, and Lorene Chambers of Rochester.

Chambers is a 2001 graduate of Hilton High School.
