C-C announces superintendent choice
The Churchville-Chili Board of Education has offered the position of superintendent of schools to Annemarie Spadafora. Spadafora has been superintendent of the Holland School District in Holland, NY, just south of Buffalo, since 1998. Before that, she was executive high school principal in the Liverpool (NY) Central School District, with a high school student population of 2,700 and a staff of 200. Spadafora has been an educator for 27 years, beginning her career as a teacher in the Marcellus Central School District.
Pending successful contract negotiations, the board will officially appoint Spadafora at the November 12 board meeting, according to district officials.
According to Board President Sheryl Johnson, all three finalists for the superintendency were "very good, very qualified," but Spadafora "stood out for all of us," she said.
"She had all the qualifications we were looking for," said Johnson, "including a strong background in curriculum, communication and finance. We feel we have a good direction in the district and good people to make it happen. We wanted someone who could facilitate that process, help move it forward."
Among the details to be worked out before November 12 is Spadafora's start date.
The other finalists for the position were Ralph Smith, Churchville-Chili Assistant Superintendent for Administration, and Jeanne Dangle, Superintendent of Schools in Avon.
The board announcement culminates a five-month search for a new superintendent led by Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES District Superintendent C. Tod Eagle.
Former Churchville-Chili Superintendent Mary Alice Price left in July to take a position as superintendent of the Pittsford School District. Dr. Larry Pedersen has been serving as interim superintendent.
