Silent Auction planned at Nik Lite concert
The local business community has been generous in its support of "Music for Manhattan," donating well over a hundred items for the silent auction. The auction is being held concurrently with the concert on November 6 at the Spencerport High School East Gym. The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. and features Nik Lite, a production of Nick and the Nice Guys.
Everything from food to fitness memberships to floor lamps is up for bid. Attendees can even bid on a chance to conduct the band's performance of "God Bless America" that night.
A partial listing of the items include restaurant gift certificates, home decorating items, skin care products, memberships in exercise programs, movie rental certificates, a guitar, a motorcycle helmet, Spencerport Rangers apparel and gift certificates from music stores.
The end of the concert promises to be spectacular as the audience, Nik Lite, community musicians and the Cosgrove Concert Band join together to perform "New York, New York" and "What A Wonderful World." Tickets for the concert are available at four Spencerport Schools (Bernabi, Munn, Taylor and Cosgrove) as well as the District Office (room 215B). Pre-sale tickets are $5 per person and $15 for an immediate family of 4-6 people. Tickets at the door will be $7.
Proceeds from this event will support the Concert Band trip to perform in March 2003 with middle school students from School 89 in Manhattan. IS 89 students were evacuated from their school during the destruction of the World Trade Centers and were unable to have typical music classes for four months.
