St. Leo Catholic Church, Hilton,
offers child safety program
A Child Safety Program for parents and children will be held at St. Leo Church, Hilton, on Saturday, November 23 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Parish Center. Parents and their children will be involved in breakout sessions that will be age appropriate for children. And the parents will also have their own session with the facilitators.
Presented by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, this interactive workshop will engage children and their parents in learning-activities regarding personal safety. Parents play the most significant role in protecting their children; keeping children safe is the responsibility of the entire community, according to organizers of the event.
St. Leo Church also welcomes to this workshop grandparents, childcare providers, teachers, coaches and anyone else who works with children. Come and bring a friend to learn about debunking the "stranger danger" myth, "touching issues," replacing fear with empowerment, teaching kids how to become less vulnerable to victimization, accessing low risk helpers (i.e. police officers, store clerks), "home alone" strategies and enhancing children's self-esteem.
St. Leo's Nursery will be available and babysitting will be provided for infants through age 4. Call Sharon at St. Leo Catholic Church, 392-9694, with questions.
