Building for Tomorrow

Churchville-Chili eighth-graders Amy Cohen and Nicole Pagano (right) demonstrate their working Fischertechniks robot for technology teacher Kevin Auinger. The students made a motorized gearbox (robot) move back and forth along a rack and pinion as part of an automation and robotics unit, of Gateway to Technology. In this unit, students build a robot and make it move using software all while learning to problem solve with peers. The other units of the Gateway to Technology program completed by all C-C eighth-graders are Design and Modeling, Science and Technology and the Magic of Electrons.
