Clarkson Historical Society
offers raffle chances, tour of homes
The Clarkson Historical Society (CHS) will be raffling off an Irish black watch mohair throw through the months of December, January and the first week in February. Tickets will be available at $1 each or 6 for $5. The throw was purchased by CHS members, Ronn and Anne Klein, on their recent trip to Ireland. Tickets will be available from CHS members and at the Morgan-Manning's Candlelight Christmas Sale on December 6 and 7. Members of the CHS will also be selling the tickets at various other locations during the winter and suggest that giving these tickets at Christmas would give a friend or loved one a chance to win this classic Irish throw.
For information call Beulah Bailey at 637-6176.
In addition, the CHS invites residents to take a look back to the early 1800s as they present a Clarkson Christmas Tour of Older Homes on Saturday, December 14 from 1 to 5 p.m. Featured homes will be the Crandall Home at 3930 Lake Road, circa 1825, known for years as "Pineholm." The DeJonge home circa 1823 at 8354 Ridge Road, for years the residence of Edgar and 'Red' Barnes; the Wisnowski home, circa 1821, the original Gallup homestead, and 7816 Ridge Road, the Mercer's cobblestone house, circa 1830.
The tour is free, but donations to the Historical Society would be appreciated. For information, call Mary Edwards at 637-5810.
