Spencerport Christmas on the Canal holiday event set
On Sunday, December 8, Spencerport village will celebrate Christmas on the Canal on Union Street (between West Avenue and Amity Street) in the village of Spencerport.
The event is a way in which family, friends and neighbors come together and celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season with a day filled with festivities.
Activities begin at 2 p.m. and include children activities, church choirs singing, horse drawn hayrides, food and entertainment by dance studios, school bands and area vocal talent. A living Nativity scene, nursery school play and a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus are also planned.
Candles and protective covers will be sold throughout the event for $1, and glow necklaces for the children selling at $2 each will be available.
At 5 p.m. the area church bells will toll, and all will gather at the gazebo to be entertained by the Community Chorus and Spencerport High School Brass Ensemble. Holiday messages from Pastor Henry Tomasso of the Calvary Chapel and Spencerport's Mayor Ted Walker will be followed by the lighting of the tree and one mile caroling stroll.
Spencerport residents and those from neighboring communities are invited.
