Christmas Dinner Theater
set for December 6 and 7 in Brockport
Musical theater and dinner will be the fare at the Christmas Dinner Theater scheduled for Friday and Saturday, December 6 and 7, at the Sweden Senior Center, 133 State Street, Brockport. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 6:30 p.m.
The Union Community Players, a Rochester musical theater troupe, returns for its fourth year of lively songs and staging, as well as traditional music of the season. The five-member group features Mark and Diane Dupre, Brockport's husband and wife singing duo. In the Friday night performance, their son, Josh, joins his mother in a duet called "Christmas Love."
The show starts with songs and skits from "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." Other numbers include "Such Wise Men" depicting the Magi following the star, and "Shepherds Beside Themselves" about the chaos caused by the angelic appearance to the stunned shepherds. A contemporary number, "Jazz Gloria," adds to perennial favorites such as "White Christmas," "Winter Wonderland," "Sleigh Ride," and samplings of Handel's "Messiah." Traditional songs like the spiritual "Sweet Little Jesus Boy" will reflect on the Christmas message.
The Sweden Senior Center will be transformed into a restaurant-style cabaret house for the two nights. Tickets for the show and dinner are $20 per person. The proceeds benefit the Youth Missions Trips of Christ Community Church in Brockport.
