Brockport Toy Shelf outreach seeks donations
Now in its 10th year, the Brockport-Sweden Toy Shelf provides toys for children who might not otherwise have them at Christmas time. The Toy Shelf is sponsored by Brockport Integrated Service and Community Organization (BISCO) and volunteers keep the program going. The Toy Shelf serves children from infants through age 17 (Brockport, Sweden, Clarkson) and 500 or more children are expected to be served this year.
New unwrapped items are now being collected at Niagara Bank, corner West Avenue and Lake Road; Rich's Auto Sales, 5564 West Ridge Road; Wegmans on Route 31 in Brockport; Sweden/Clarkson Community Center, 4927 Lake Road; gift tree at Wendy's in Brockport. The Gift Angel program at Lift Bridge Book Shop in Brockport provides books for children. Checks can be made payable to Brockport Toy Shelf and sent to 16 Glendale Road, Brockport, NY 14420.
The goal is for each child to receive a medium end gift ($10 or less), higher end gift ($10-20), stocking stuffers, a hat and pair of mittens, and a book.
Distribution is Saturday, December 21 and Sunday, December 22 at Brockport High School. "Shopping" is by appointment. There is no charge for participants.
