New pastor welcomed at Parma Greece UCC

Pastor Gary Ferner was ordained at a celebration of Word, Sacrament, Ordination and Installation at the Parma Greece United Church of Christ, 1211 Manitou Road, Parma on Sunday, November 24.

More than 160 attended including his wife, Betsy; his mother, Doris Ferner; his uncle, Rev. Dr. Douglas Nielson; members of his congregation; visitors; friends; United Church of Christ clergy of the Genesee Valley Association and New York State Conference.

The service began with a welcome and greeting by Church Moderator Mike Zebulske. Highlights included several of Rev. Ferner's favorite hymns, a sermon by Rev. Dr. Douglas Nielson, Laying on of Hands led by Rev. Dr. David Fulton of the U.C.C. New York State Conference, The Lord's Supper served by Rev. Ferner at the altar and a Prayer of Thanksgiving by Rev. Robert Hathaway, Pastor Emeritus of the church. Gifts included an alb presented by his mother and an electronic Bible on disc and soft leather brief case from his congregation.

A reception followed in the church Fellowship Hall.
