Brockport residents attend state PTA convention

Six Brockport residents were among the 800 members of the New York State Parent Teacher Association who attended the organization's 108th annual convention in Rochester in November. The Brockport residents are Beth Banzer, Joel Frater, Jenca Haddock, Debbi Hill, Sue Liebe and Shannon Zielinski. As delegates representing Brockport Central PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association), they attended workshops designed to enhance their knowledge and leadership skills, voted on resolutions that set positions for the statewide organization, and elected officials.

Delegates adopted three new resolutions that will become official positions of the state PTA. The new resolutions call for the NYS PTA to support the following: comprehensive K-12 substance abuse resistance education, mercury reduction in the environment, and reauthorization of the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act.
