Albion drops Hawks
The Albion Purple Eagles scored eight points in the final minute of the game to pull out a 33-27 win over Holley December 9 in girls basketball.
Tied after the first half, the Hawks were able to take their first lead of the game midway through the third quarter on a steal by Tiffany Sanders who passed underneath to Renee Catlin for the lay-up. Sanders increased the lead to three with a foul shot moments later, but Albion scored two baskets late in the quarter to lead by one after three.
In the fourth quarter, Catlin hit a baseline jumper to tie the game at 21-21. Stephany Roberts and Catlin followed with foul shots giving Holley a two-point lead. Roberts and Deanna Ross hit baseline shots after an Albion basket giving the Hawks a 4-point lead with three minutes left. The Purple Eagles then went on a 10-0 run to close the game dropping Holleys record to 1-2 this season.
Catlin led the Hawks with 11 points. Roberts had six, Ross four and Sanders and Jamie Sauer each chipped in three.
