U.S. Postal Service safety reminders

In an effort to maximize the safety of letter carriers when delivering through the winter season, the United States Postal Service is asking customers for their help:

• Leave your porch or house light on to help illuminate the potential hazards of the winter weather.
• Insure that all overhangs, sidewalks and steps are clear and free of snow and ice to help prevent slips and falls by carriers.
• Please be sure your dog is inside your home or tied up where they can not reach the carriers as they attempt delivery of the mail.
• Clear snow and ice away from mailboxes for ease of access.
