Marine Corps Pvt. William J. Strait, son of Carlie G. McCoy of Glenora Drive, Rochester, and William Cronin of Timpat Drive, Rochester, completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.

Strait is a 2002 graduate of Holley High School.
