Dries hat trick leads Blue Devils
Junior forward Brandon Dries scored three goals and assisted on one other as the Brockport Blue Devils trounced Kenmore West 10-2 in high school hockey action December 21.
The Blue Devils scored four goals in the first period and added another in the second before Kenmore finally tallied. Brockport scored twice more in the second period to put the game out of reach and added three more goals in the third period.
Craig Willis had a five-point game with two goals and three assists and Casey Balog added two goals and two assists to the attack. Other Brockport goal scorers were Joe Mulhern, his first as a Blue Devil after transferring from Spencerport, Jarrod Miner, Colby Jones and Matt Popen.
Goaltender Pat Young went the whole way on goal for Brockport making 15 saves to pick up the win, which improved to 6-1-1 through the first third of the season.
"We just played a good passing game and caught their defense running around in their own end," said head coach Scott Empey. Brockport is trying to return to the New York state playoffs after reaching the final four last season.
