AREA

•Lane, Gertrude "Gert" K., age 69, of Corfu, New York, died January 2, 2003 unexpectedly. Born on March 9, 1933 in Kendall, she was the daughter of the late Winfield and Doris (Porter) Hart. Mrs. Lane enjoyed puzzles, playing cards, and crocheting. She is survived by a brother, Warren Hart of Clarendon; two sisters, Joan (Frank) Taylor of Albion and Beverly Hart of Kent; several nieces and nephews; a second mother, Arlene Hart of Medina.

Funeral Services were held January 4 at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, Albion. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Kendall in the spring. Contributions can be made to the charity of one's choice in her memory.


•Neubauer, Richard James "Ricky," Richard and Lynn Neubauer announce the birth of their precious son, born December 31, 2002 at 5:33 a.m. He died January 1, 2003. He is also survived by his grandparents, Laurie Neubauer, Tim and Gayle Peterson; great-grandparents, Evelyn Mosbruger, Jim and Bev Peterson, Jim and Elaine Rockey; several aunts, uncles and a cousin. Ricky was predeceased by his grandfather, Richard A. Neubauer, 1996.

ALBION

•Davis, Eddie, 67, of Middleport, died January 4, 2003 at Medina Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born on December 28, 1935 in Monticello, Georgia to T.C. and Sallie Kate Epps and had lived in this area since 1955. He is a retiree from FMC in Middleport and enjoyed working as a mechanic. He is survived by his wife Gloria (Billingslea) whom he married in 1957; his children, Evelyn (Dennis) Boyden of Georgia, Lisa (Scotty) Wall of Rochester, Traci (Chris) Taylor of Albion, Robin Davis of Albion, Vanessa Davis of Cleveland, Ohio, Ezzard Davis of Georgia, Eddie C. (Ann) Davis of Georgia, Donnie (Gladys) Davis of Georgia; sisters, Eva K. Clerkley of Rochester, Lizzie Lee Smith of Albion; brother T.C. Epps of Brooklyn; 17 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a son, Ronald, and nine brothers and sisters.

A Funeral Service was held January 10 at the First Presbyterian Church in Albion. Interment in Mount Albion Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Orleans County.


HAMLIN

•Black, Guilford J. Sr., On January 4, 2003. Predeceased by his step-son, Joshua Bond. He is survived by his loving wife, Sadie; daughters, Cindy Bertolette, Tamara (Andrew) Schenkel; son, Guilford Jr. (Carrie); seven grandchildren; cousins, Dean (Ruth) Slater, June (Peter) Cuomo, Millie Marble; and many dear friends.

Funeral Services were held January 8 at Fowler Funeral Home, Brockport. Interment, Hillside Cemetery in the spring.


HILTON

•Hiscock, Dorothea (Taber), January 1, 2003, age 89, widow of Charles Hiscock, 1975. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and John Polandick; two grandsons, John and Craig Polandick; her sister-in-law, Doris Taber; many nieces and nephews.

A Private Gravesides Service was held at Parma Union Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Hilton Baptist Church Memorial Fund in her memory.


•Stackman, Frank H. Jr., December 30, 2002, age 77 in New Smyrna, Florida. He is survived by his wife, Rita (Bernstine) Stackman; her children, Marie Hart, Frank (Sandy) Stackman, Nancy Baeskens and Terry Dinehart; his sister, Mildred Stackman; five grandchildren.

KENDALL

•Berwick, Kathleen, of Casco, Maine, formerly of Kendall, and Bedford, Massachusetts died peacefully December 7, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, Maine. Beloved wife of Martin A. Berwick of Casco, Maine and devoted mother of sons, Daniel and his wife Darcy of Yipslanti, Michigan and Neal of Casco, Maine. Also survived by step-mother, Helen (Manter) Neville of Waltham; brothers, Paul F. Neville, his wife Hannah (Walsh) and sons Kevin and Brett of Erving, Massachusetts, Peter L. Neville, his wife Noreen Carey-Neville and daughters, Colleen and Katharine of Weymouth, Massachusetts; parents-in-law, Alfred and Jacqueline Berwick of Bedford; sister-in-law Sandy Berwick Crowley, her husband, Robert Crowley and children Brendon and Jacqueline of McLean, Virginia; brother-in-law, Christopher Berwick, his wife Marilyn and children Zachary and Jennifer of Crestwood, Kentucky.

A Funeral Mass was said January 11 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Windham, Maine. Interment, at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Concord, Massachusetts. A Memorial Service in Kendall is being arranged for a later date. MORTON

•Joba, Chester L., December 31, 2002 age 86 of LeRoy, formerly of Morton. He is survived by his wife, Helen; his children, Lawrence, Niel, Dorothy and Bruce (Karen) Joba. He was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Joba, 1986.

SPENCERPORT

•Jones, Marion R., January 2, 2003. Her husband of over 50 years, Fred W. Jones died on December 26, 1995. Marion is survived by two sons, Eben and Dana Jones; two daughters, Carolyn Anderson and Charlotte Farrell; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was born October 17, 1912 in Greenfield, Massachusetts and received a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Marion was active in the Ogden Presbyterian Church and was with Meals on Wheels for many years.

A Memorial Service was held January 4 at the Ogden Presbyterian Church, 2400 South Main Street, Spencerport. Expressions in her memory can be made to the Ogden Presbyterian Church, Rochester Public Library Bookmobile Program or other charity in her name.


•Schmucker, Sara Renfroe, age 75, died December 12, 2002 in Thomasville, Georgia. Born November 3, 1927, in Quitman, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Maude Lane Renfroe. She married David L. Schmucker, who survives, in 1959. She moved to Georgia in 1984, having previously resided in Spencerport. She was a homemaker and retired baker. Survivors include her husband, David L. Schmucker of 100 Executive Drive, Thomasville; five sons, William Jones of Rochester, Kenneth Jones of Panama City, Florida, Ronald Jones of Boiling Springs, North Carolina, Michael Jones of Panama City and Kurt Schmucker of Laconia, New Hampshire; two daughters, Donna Livingston of Milford, California and Wendy Hugar of Largo, Florida; four sisters, Mary Ann Renfroe of Port St. Joe, Florida, Virginia Patton, Katie Mulla of Rochester, and Nadine Scheines of Jacksonville, Florida; six brothers, Gregg Renfroe of LaFayette, Lewis Renfroe of Tallahassee, Florida, Robert Renfroe of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Thomas Renfroe of Navarra, Florida, Wiley Renfroe of Pensacola, Florida and Jimmy Godrey of Thomasville; 10 grandchildren; one great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two siblings.

Funeral Services were held December 14 in Thomas-ville. Interment, Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations can be made to the Spencerport Volunteer Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary.
