It takes a class
to build a village
Holley second-graders recently planned and built a milk carton community populated with gingerbread people as part of a social-studies unit. The project not only gave students a chance to experience community planning, mapping, decision making and working together, it reinforced math skills, such as geometry, measuring, estimate and spatial problem solving.
