Learning about
Precision Machining
Churchville-Chili sixth-grader John Finn learns to use a lathe to shape a piece of aluminum during open shop night in the precision machining shop at the BOCES 2 WE-MO-CO Career and Technical Education Center. Instructing him is WE-MO-CO graduate Adam Widger, winner of the 2002 Monroe Community College Precision Tooling and Machining Competition. Waiting his turn is Churchville-Chili fifth-grader David Fink. Precision machining teacher Pat Scarpulla holds an open shop night each month for those interested in learning more about precision machining. The next open shop night is Wednesday, January 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the BOCES 2 WE-MO-CO Career and Technical Education Center at 3589 Big Ridge Road in Spencerport.
