Classes offered boaters and PWC operators
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 4-8 of Hamlin will be conducting the 8-hour Boating Safely class at two locations. The class is to certify boaters so that they can legally operate watercraft. In 2004, anyone, regardless of age, must be certified to operate a personal watercraft.
The times and locations are as follows:
- Hamlin Town Hall - February 1 and 8 - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; March 1 and 8 - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Contact Hamlin Recreation at 964-7222 or Roger Howlett at 964-2551 to register.
- Sweden Recreation Center - March 31, April 1, 7, 9 - 7 to 9 p.m.; May 5, 6, 12, 13 - 7 to 9 p.m. Contact Sweden-Clarkson Recreation at 431-0050.
Classes are open to any boat or PWC operator ages 10 and older. Anyone age 10 to 31 years must possess a certificate in order to operate a personal watercraft in the 2003 season.
