Lions will visit zoo this summer
Three lions are being brought to the Seneca Park Zoo this summer to be exhibited from April 1 to October 31. This will be the sixth year that the zoo's Visiting Animal program has brought special animals to the zoo. From 1998 through 2002 other animals participating in the program included, respectively, giraffes, rhinoceros, white tigers, warthogs, and another set of giraffes.
Monroe County Executive Jack Doyle has requested that the Monroe County Legislature authorize $22,000 for rental of the lions from the International Animal Exchange, Inc. Funds for the agreement are already included in the Monroe County Parks Department's Animal Purchase Trust Fund.
