DeLorenzo, Cadets beat OIympia
The Hilton Cadets jumped out to a two-game-to-none lead over Greece Olympia, but were forced to come from behind for a five-game win in girl's volleyball January 11.
Following a relatively easy 25-15 win in the first game, the Cadets scored five of the final six points to also win game two 25-23. In game three, after being tied at 19-19, Olympia scored the final six points of the game and led throughout most of the fourth game in a 25-18 win.
In the fifth and deciding game, Olympia jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Cadets woke up. Thirteen times the score was tied including 22-22 before a net point, a block by Jonelle Redhead and a mis-hit by Olympia gave the Cadets a 25-22 win and the match. In the fifth game, Redhead had two blocks, three kills and an ace.
Britni DeLorenzo led the Cadets with 11 kills and 10 digs in the match. Redhead also was in double figures with 10 kills while Katie Griffin dished out 29 assists. Shannon Byrne played well defensively with 10 digs as did Jenn Whigham with four blocks. Mary Leo added five kills to the offense.
