Four area teams tops at Hilton

Spencerport, Holley, Hilton and Kendall were the top four teams at the 17-team Clayton Barnard High School Wrestling Tournament held January 17-18 at Hilton High School.

The Rangers finished in first with 308.5 points and got wins from Steve Stulpin at 160 lbs., Mike Terenzi at 130 lbs. and Andy Peters at 215 lbs. Eric Piedmonte, Derek Gray, Josh Fuller, Kris MacBeth, Chuck Zimmerman and Mike Brongo all took home second place finishes in their weight classes.

Holley's Anwar Goeres won 12-0 at 103 lbs.; Andrew Grillo won his 125 lb. class 7-0 and Ben Doty won by pin in 1:53 at 275 lbs. as the Hawks finished second in team points with 166.5.

Host Hilton did not have a weight class winner, but Joe Ranzenbach and Adam Palermo finished second at 119 and 130 lbs. respectively, as the Cadets tallied 146 points.

Kendall finished fourth with 138 points paced by Geoff Chippendale's 17-7 win at 112 lbs. and Matt Beres 1-0 overtime thriller at 135 lbs. The Eagles' Donald Williams, Torry Tooley and Richard Williams each finished second.
